Teaching Philosophy:
As an educator I hope that I can first be an example of strong technique and beauty in my own playing. In my studio I want to foster a mindset of interdependent collaboration between other members of the studio, and the surrounding community. My goal is to create a caring and creative environment to understand each student's unique personality, interests, and strengths. Music isn't black and white, and neither are the many possibilities the oboe, or pursuing an instrument can open up for them.
Oboe Lessons:
Weekly private oboe lessons are available to students of all ages, from beginning to undergraduate levels (and beyond)! Lessons are customized to fit the student's goals. Whether you are just starting out, auditioning for college, taking professional auditions or picking up the instrument for enjoyment, I will individualize a plan to fit your needs to help you succeed.
Reed Making Lessons:
Reed making lessons and masterclasses are available to students of intermediate to advanced levels. The student may choose to begin learning to make reeds when they are able to purchase their own reed making materials, and can set aside time each week to work on this craft.
I also offer reed making intensive classes during the summer consisting of daily meetings between the student and myself.
